Office Procedure After A Prove-Up

Office Procedure After a Prove-Up
Once you return to the office, the prove-up must be recorded in the time sheet.  It is also helpful to indicate whether a transcript will be made or not.  If there will be a transcript, just simply process any payment in the time sheet and provide the funds to Arnold and file the folder away.  If there is no transcript, process the funds and indicate outside the folder “No Transcript.”
Closing the file
Once everything has been completed, the file is ready to be closed.  Indicate closed on the outside of the file with the month and year.  Remove the disk and disk envelope from the back.  Place in the disk in the box for it to be cleaned.  Then, remove all the papers from the file except the following:
- One copy of the judgment with attached agreements with the judge’s stamp on top
- One copy of the support order, if relevant
- Correspondence advising the client and respondent of the court date
- Intake form
Then the file can be placed among the closed files in the back room.
I have attached Prove-up Guides that can be found on our server.  They are in the Divorce Documents folder in the Prove-up Guide sub-folder.  I have different guides depending on the grounds for the divorce and whether it is stipulated or a default case.
